Google and LinkedIn Ads: Reimagining Digital Marketing in 2025

Essay · 9 min read/08

Google and LinkedIn are the two B2B ad ecosystems that actually move pipeline. Everything else is support cast. The question isn't which to use — it's how they work together at different stages of the buyer journey.

What each platform is actually good at

  • Google: capturing active demand. Someone's typing a problem or a product — be the first credible answer.
  • LinkedIn: creating demand inside target accounts that aren't searching yet. Warm them up, make them search for you later.

A simple orchestration that works

Step 1 — LinkedIn single-image and video ads to your target account list, introducing the problem you solve. Step 2 — LinkedIn Document Ads with a useful artifact (report, framework, checklist). Step 3 — Retargeting on Google and Meta for anyone who engaged but didn't convert. Step 4 — Branded Search on Google mopping up anyone who later Googles you. Step 5 — Post-MQL nurture with email and sales outreach to anyone inside target accounts, regardless of click path.

Budget split

If you must start somewhere: 60% LinkedIn for top-of-funnel to named accounts, 25% Google Search for demand capture, 15% retargeting across both. Adjust every quarter against pipeline sourced, not MQLs or leads.

"LinkedIn is where you buy attention from people who won't search you yet. Google is where you convert the ones who already are. Stop comparing their CPLs — they're doing different jobs."
